A few last-minute tips for those of you who plan to attend Cocktails in Historic Places tonight:
- The Early Birds get the Grub. Solare Lounge is being kind enough to set out a spread of their appetizers for us tonight! Please try to arrive at 7:00 -- or you may miss out on trying their delicious assortment of appetizers (concocted especially to pair with their fantastic wine selection).
- Parking Directions. Once you are on Roosevelt heading southeast, drive past the restaurant on your left (at the corner of Roosevelt and Decatur), drive 1 more block to where the street ends at Cushing Road. The best parking lot is on your left. There is also street parking along Roosevent and Cushing.
- Navigating Liberty Station in the dark can be a bit tricky. Best to drive into Liberty Station off of Rosecrans, no matter what Mapquest tells you to do.
- Don't worry about a little drizzle. Solare is an indoor venue. If you are a smoker, don't worry, their patios are covered and equipped with heat lamps!
- Talking History. Shortly after 8:00 p.m., there will be a brief 3- to 5-minute talk about the fascinating history of Liberty Station provided by your hosts. Don't miss it!
- Calling Car 51! Please be advised . . . there has been a high level of squad car activity near the intersection of Scott Street and Harbor Drive -- using any excuse to pull people over. Ticket quota issues? Who knows? I even saw them pull over a bicycle there last week. Be especially careful tonight if your drive home takes you into this region. Please drink responsibly and/or you may wish to designate a driver.
