Long email. Short attention span? Just read the stuff in Bold or italics! -- K.
Are you ready for some cocktails and another SPECTACULAR San Diego sunset view? I know I am. The details of this Thursday?s event have been posted on the website for several weeks now, so for those of you who have already RSVP?d, WHEN: This Thursday, May 29th @ 7:00pm (Sunset is at 7:50 ? don?t miss it!) WHERE: WHAT: Cocktails in Historic Places, of course! When you stroll into the lobby, looking oh-so-swank, you will find the lounge to your right past the concierge desk. The bar itself is rather cosy, but seating is also available through the back doors on the deck. Out there, heat lamps are provided for your comfort, and an incredible view is provided for your amazement. As per usual, cocktail attire is requested, and VINTAGE cocktail attire is heartily encouraged! THE PITCH For the purists among you ? yes, I realize this is not what I would traditionally consider a historic property, BUT the recreation of the Arts and Crafts style unique to early 20th century California is so perfect and so complete that this place rates as a MUST-SEE in my book. The newly remodeled Lodge at Torrey Pines takes its inspiration from the work of Charles and Henry Greene, architects of such spectacularly beautiful craftsman-era homes as PARKING AND DIRECTIONS Parking is ample! There is a garage structure for self-parking, but gratuity-based valet service is also available. Just pay the young scalawags whatever you deem appropriate for parking your Model T or Duesenberg. You can download a PDF file with directions OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST Big Breeches - One swellegant soul away from 250 Members! Can you believe it? Neither can I. Let?s see if we can get more of you out to play on a regular basis. We?re currently averaging between 20 and 40 lovely ladies and gallant gentlemen at each event. As our numbers grow, so does our bargaining power to get into spots that might otherwise be inaccessible, n?est-ce pas? Let's start throwing our bigger breeches around! Something Swell - There?s something pretty swell coming up next weekend, about which this particular cocktail maven slash architecture enthusiast is particularly. . . well. . . enthused! June 7th is is the Burlingame Homes Tour! The neighborhood of Burlingame represents pre-World War I suburban residential development, and features an array of custom homes from that era. Five homes depicting several architectural styles will be featured on the tour. Tours will be conducted from 10am to 4pm and tickets are available in advance for $20 or on the day of the tour for $25. I have posted the flyer for the event on our meetup site here on our files page, but for more information, call 619-285-9680 or inquire at BurlingameClub@yahoo.com. Special thank yous go out to those of you who have contacted me via email with your fantastic venue recommendations, or just to share your thoughts about Cocktails in Historic Places. Your warmth and enthusiasm for our get-togethers absolutely what makes this so rewarding. Can't WAIT to see you all on Thursday! -- Kristine Event Planner Cocktails in Historic Places |
