Gasp! What's THIS??? A Cocktails in Historic Places Event on the WEEKEND? In the MIDDLE OF THE DAY?!!!?!!
It's madness.
Please join me at one of the most beautiful, finely crafted, formerly private residences in San Diego. This exquisite Arts and Crafts style showplace is tucked away in a little-visited area of Balboa Park and was home to the man without whom Balboa Park wouldn't exist, George Marston. The home is now a museum and open to the public for tours (lucky us!)
Here's how it works: every hour from 11am until 3pm one of the docents opens the door to see who wants a tour. Tours are five bucks and last half an hour to an hour, depending on how many questions guests have. I will be there around 1:30 to welcome everyone and possibly take the 2pm tour with you. I suggest arriving early so you can park and stroll the grounds as well. For THIS particular event, comfortable shoes are recommended.
After the tour, my husband and I would like to invite members to our home for wine and nibblies to celebrate the one year anniversary of Cocktails in Historic Places. Guests bearing wine bottles will be welcomed particularly warmly. ;)
Contrary to tradition, cocktail attire is NOT requested, but do make an effort dearies. It's a party after all!
Do come.
