For May, we continue to celebrate the arrival of Spring with another stunning sunset view.

Though The Logde at Torrey Pines is not itself a historic building of the kind we usually visit, it IS an authentic representation of the Craftsman-syle architecture that is so unique to early 1900s California. The Lodge is specifically modeled after the Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena which were designed by Charles and Henry Greene. Discussion will center around the contribution Greene and Greene made on American architecture and the Craftsman era in general. More details in the coming weeks!

As always, cocktail attire is requested, and vintage cocktail attire is heartily encouraged.

    •  Interesting place. The carpets in the hallway going to the spa reminded me of the carpets at the Fox Theater back in the sixties .Of course the glass door were outstanding workmanship. I grew up in a craftsmen house and all that dark beautiful wood reminded me of it. I remember our kitchen door was as heavy as theirs except it swang back and forth. My friends that lived in Mission Hills had beautiful dark rich molding in the living and dinning areas. It is trulely a work of art!

Hi Kristine - Great job last night! My friends loved it so I expect that they will come back. I have one more that's interested as well. When we were leaving, I was wondering about the Grand Horton Hotel downtown. Have you had a meetup there? I know Tom Ham's is one of the oldest lighthouses (or so the lady told me as I was signing my wedding contract there. - Meredith

    •  Several new faces this month, and i'm delighted that more and more people are recommending Cocktails in Historic Places to their friends. It's really exciting to watch the mix. Beyond enjoying the events, I think our members are genuinely enjoying each other.
    •  Wonderful venue. Great conversation!
    •  This was again an interesting meeting in a beautiful location. Kristine is very skillful in locating intriguing places and then researching their histories. Now I want to go to Pasadena to see the Gamble house!
